Taking the plunge…and hopefully not using the plunger

So I’ve decided that it is time for me to face the inevitable. I can’t hide from it any longer even though part of me would be happy to do so.

It’s time to take the plunge into Potty-Training!

My girls is now a little over 2 and she has expressed an interest in using the potty. I know I should be overjoyed that she is but it just brings flashbacks of trying to trian my boy.

Ok, so stop staying that, “girls are so much easier than boys.” I don’t dispute that. There are just a couple of things making me leery.

For starters it wasn’t that long ago that I trained my son. I lost count how many times I had to go outside and hose out his underwear form yet another “accident.” I also lost count how many times I would be forced into spitting and throwing out expletives because the spray from the hose would ricochet just right and come back into my face. It’s very hard to cuss while trying not to throw up in your front yard by the way.

The second reason is that my daughter is a drama-mama. Ok, wait, that’s not right. Let me try that again. My daughter is a DRAMA-MAMA!

It doesn’t take much to set her off. The girl can go from fine to a full out cry worthy of the Academ Award in a little less than 7 seconds. Yes, I HAVE times it! It’s really quite impressive adn I’m sure it will come in handy later in life, like when she really is an award winning actress and supporting me in my old age; but right now it just drives me nuts. I just know that if she messes up her Princess panties it will become the end of the world. For at least 10 minutes.

And for you Doubting Thomas’ out there, let me just show you what I’m up against. Don’t lie! You would totally run screaing if you could.

Of course I’m not totally “mad.” I do understand that this means that there will be even less monies spent on diapers and I won’t have to deal with the messiness of scraping poop from ALL OVER her bottom.

So here’s to a new chapter in her book. And to the hope that after this weekend I can throw my poop scraper away for good!

LOL sorry.. have fun with that!! I am staying in denial for a little bit longer. Whoever said the second one was easier can kiss my butt!! I think it all depends on the kid!! I will wish you luck and a fast potty training week!!

  2. Jenny says:

Good luck! I’m going to keep my head in the sand a bit longer. I’m not ready to clean poop off my carpet!

  3. Mommynightowl says:

she is a cutie. I love the look she is giving you. lol

I have been trying to potty train my daughter. she does better in panties than pull ups, and only tells me when she has to pee at night, in an attempt to get to stay up longer. during the day i take her to the potty every 30-45 min so ill be checking back at your blog for advice on how you are potty training your daughter because i feel lost and like ive been potty training her forever.
