A couple weeks ago I posted that the newest Cirque du Soleil show was coming to Portland, amongst other cities across the U.S. and Canada.
Well, guess what?!?! It’s only 9 days before opening night! And what’s more they have decided to add 19 additional performances in Portland! So really if you live in the area you have no excuse not to go now. 🙂
The show is set to kick off on Friday, April 9th and will run to Monday, May 17th. Tickets are available online or by calling 1-800-450-1480. You can also view the other cities the show will be coming to.
I just got word that they will start raising the blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) this Friday on SW Moody Avenue (South of the Marquam bridge). It amazes me to no end how grand the Big Top actually is!
Did you know that the Grand Chapiteau seats over 2,500 people! It stands 66 feet high, is 167 feet in diameter and is supported by four masts which are 80 feet tall. No wonder it look so awesome when you drive by!
It takes about 80 people but only a few minutes to raise the Big Top. The entire “village” takes 7 days to complete and includes the VIP tent, entrance and rehearsal tents, box office, administrative offices, and a kitchen with dining area for the cast and crew. That sounds like more than just a village to me!
Well, besides the fact that I love Cirque du Soleil and want to see a show live, I want to make sure you all know that this event is family friendly. As I mentioned in my previous post Cirque is getting back to it’s roots of clowning and acrobatics which makes Kooza the perfect show for the whole family.
If you’re still not sure than the big news I have to share is that thanks to Cirque du Soleil and my friends at R-West PR, my husband and I are going to be attending a special VIP the day before Kooza opens to the public! We are super excited and I look forward to coming back and telling you all about the show and hopefully sharing some first hand pictures with you all!
So mark your calendars.. the show opens April 9th!
And if your don’t live in the Portland area then make sure to check out the Kooza website and see when the show will set up near you!
