Those are just seven of the words that I use to describe my past weekend in Park City, UT. The Evolution of Women in Social Media Conference (Evo, for short,) was my first blogging conference. There are many to choose from but I chose Evo because:
- A. it was closer to me that the majority of conferences.
- B. this is the first year so it’s neat to be able to say I attending the first one.
- C. it was coordinated by two of the most amazing women I have ever had the joy of tweeting with, Rachael Herrscher @TodaysMama and Jyl Johnson-Pattee @MomitForward.
The sessions were right on. From food blogging to photography to SEO, Evo was your one stop. The big problem I kept running into was the fact that several times there were 2 sessions I really wanted to go to at the same time! 🙁 But it helps to connect with others beforehand so they can hook you up with notes!
I was able to meet so many of my blogging idols that it is ridiculous. Ladies that I have tweeted with or commented on their sites. And not to mention the vloggers who I have watched in awe as they taught me vlogging tips and tricks.
Evo was filled with such positivity that it made me proud to call myself a blogger. An authentic blogger. I was reminded that I needed to by myself at all times. I don’t have to have a separate online persona, actually I shouldn’t have one.
It also reminded me that we are a powerful group of women, and we need to be together not against each other. There are constantly small feuds brewing on twitter, through blogs, etc. But instead of knocking ourselves down we need to pick each other up. Encourage each other. Ultimately, we are in this together!
I can say I have the conference bug now. It truly was an amazing experience and one that will live with me for a very long time.
