Last year the kids and I had an extremely unique opportunity.
We were lucky enough to be able to meet the star elephant Asia from Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s show Zing Zang Zoom. We were even treated to watch the show from the second row! It was simply amazing.
Well, this year the Circus is coming back to Portland!
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will present “FUNundrum” at the Rose Garden from September 2nd through the 5th. This show marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of P.T. Barnum himself! The show features 130 performers, elephants, cowboys, pirates and mermaids. So really something for every kid young and old!
Tomorrow morning, the kids and I will be joined by other Portland area bloggers and their families, to once again meet the real stars of the show, the Elephants! We’ll get to see first hand how these gorgeous animals are cared for and the kids will get the chance to ask the trainers questions. I’ll have my trusty Nikon and Flip in hand so rest assured that you will be seeing some awesome pics and videos!
Here are the other local bloggers that will be in attendance. Make sure to show them some love by checking out their sites!

In addition to us bloggers Brooke Carlson from KPTV Better Portland will be there as well. So if you are a local reader be sure to check out the show tomorrow at 1pm and see if you spot anyone you know! 🙂
Rest assured that we won’t be the only ones that get to have fun. There will be a special event tomorrow open to the public at Pioneer Courthouse Square called “Circus in the Square”. 48 performers will rotate on stage for 2 hours! There will also be free circus snacks and coupons to the show will be available while supplies last. Oh, and let’s not forget balloon animals for the kiddos!
The event will be held from 11:30-1:30, and if anyone in the crowd is daring enough to get up on stage will be given a family four pack of tickets to the show!
If you’re not able to make it but still want to take the kids to the circus, tickets are on sale now through the Rose Quarter Ticket Office. Prices range from $16-$82 and all ticket holders are invited to arrive an hour early for an All Access Pre-Show where you can meet performers and animals, learn circus skills and enjoy a taste of the performance before the show even starts!
I’ll tell the elephants you said “Hi”!
