Being able to relate to the TV shows aren’t a real requirement for me. The shows I watch are a way to make me either A. Escape from my world for just 30 minutes or B. To make me feel better about myself. 🙂
When you look at the surface, I don’t have anything in common with the main character on The New Adventures of Old Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) other than being famous and beautiful 😉 . She a divorced mom of 1 who owns her own business. I’m a married mom of 2 and well, this is business.
But when you take a look at our daily activities they are quite similar. We wake up, get our kids ready for school, which includes packing their lunch, double checking homework and making sure they’ve brushed their teeth. It’s then in the car we go for the trip to the kids’ school. After that Christine heads off to the gym that she owns to begin her work day. I, on the other hand, head off to the gym to get my daily workout in and then come home to take a quick shower and get a bit of work done before it’s time to pick up the kids at 11. That’s when my real work begins. While the kids have a snack then play in their rooms, housework is on my agenda. If I complete what I set out to do before dinner, I get to do some work. After dinner its time for soccer games or practices then home for shower/bath which leads to falling into bed exhausted just to wake up in the morning and do it all over again.
Because really it doesn’t matter if we are divorced, married, working, stay at home, have 1 kid of 13; we’re all moms and our lives are our children.
