Down to the wire! {ENDED}

Every year I struggle with what my kids are going to dress up as for Halloween.

I used to be extremely crafty and make their costumes, but as they have gotten older they don’t always like the ideas that I come up with. So this year I decided that they could pick out their costume. It could be (almost) anything they wanted.

At this point, Ian is still undecided. Ainsley on the other hand only had one requirement, it had to be a pretty dress!

Luckily, the good folks at Star Costumes offered to let her pick out a costume for review. It took us much deliberation, (and 2 days,) before we were able to settle on just one costume. That should give you an idea of the large selection that they have. We settled the Southern Belle Costume. I think what really drove us to it was that it looked gorgeous and it came with a hat! If you have a girl you know that accessories are very important when picking a costume or any clothing for that matter.

When the packaged arrived I had to wait a few weeks to open it because I knew that as soon as Ainsley saw it she would want to wear it everyday! What can I say she is a girly girl for sure.

When we opened it, I’ll be honest, I had kind of prepared myself for the worst. I knew it wouldn’t be like an actual dress because, well it’s a costume. I figured it would be very thin and see through, which was okay because I always put my kids in warm clothes underneath their costumes since it’s chilly here in October.

I was pleasantly surprised. The dress is super cute and although it is a tad long (nothing I can’t fix,) I was quite happy with it. It has a built-in hoop in the skirt so it looks straight out of Gone with the Wind. And the hat, oh my gosh! I can’t get over how great Ainsley looks with the whole get up on.

I like that the dress reaches the floor which means she can wear tennis shoes and no one will be the wiser. She loves to twirl in it. It took me about 15 minutes to get her out of the costume and now have it hanging in my closet so she can’t get to it easily. (Did I mention she is a girly girl?)
