This week has been filled with ups and downs.
I’ve been doing great sticking to my restricted calorie diet. It took awhile to get my kids on board though. After the first night of hearing, “I don’t like it” and making them something they would eat, I had to play tough mom and tell them that the option was to eat dinner or be hungry. It was hard because I never want to feel like I’m starving my kids, but I knew I didn’t want to feed (no pun intended) their finicky eating habits.
Well, on the 3rd day they finally relented and ate the dinner I prepared, I even heard “This is really good Mom!” Of course I don’t know if it was in fact really good or if they were just so hungry that, considering the alternative, it was the best meal of their short lives.
Anyway, I will start week 5 of the Couch to 5K training program this week. I feel good running but I am experiencing some knee and shin pain. After talking to some running buddies of mine we’ve determined that my everyday tennis shoes aren’t going to cut it for me much longer. So, after the first of the month I am going to get fitted for real running shoes. I’m excited to see how they tell me I run and to have the pain lessen with the correct shoe support.
One of the things that really sent me for a loop this week is I made the mistake of stepping on the scale several times. After last weeks weigh in I was really down on myself that I had gained and I think that fed my temptation to step on the scale more. I was so frustrated by mid week that I was about to throw in the towel. I know our fluctuates several pounds throughout the day, but at one point the scale read 200lbs again! Super irritating.
My girlfriends were super supportive and kept encouraging me to just stick with it, and I did. I was dreading this morning and stepping on the scale.
So I’ll be sticking with what I’ve been doing and hope that next week I’ll see another number that I haven’t seen in a VERY long time! 🙂
