Last Friday we had an awesome end to our Spring break!
The winner of my Better Living Show giveaway and I woke up early, (we’re talking 3am people,) and headed north caravan style. After getting about 90 minutes of sleep I was raring to go! 🙂
On our way I felt the need to text my co-driver. Our convo went a little something like this:
Me: “Good Morning!”
Her: “It’s still night.”
–She had a point. My kids said the same thing to me when I work them up. Fast forward about 20 mins.
Me: “Stopping at Dutch Bros. for coffee”
Her: “Me too.”
Okay, so maybe she isn’t talkative that early in the morning. I will say that the coffee guy seemed a little taken back as we proceeded to chat it up from opposite windows while he made our coffee. 🙂
Thankfully, traffic was nil and we followed the news trucks to our entrance.
There we met the wonderful gals from R-West PR, Atlanta Falcon Ovie Mughelli, On the Go with Joe from KPTV, and Drew Carney from KGW.
Ovie gave the kids a quick run through of the Recycle on the Run Course.
Then it was time for the first TV spot on KGW with Drew Carney. He had all the kids line up with him on one side and Ovie on the other. It just so happened that he was standing next to my son so during the entire teaser anytime you see Drew you also see my boy.
Drew was super nice. He talked with the kids and us. I learned that he had 3.5 year old twin boys, which was why he was impressed that we had been able to get the kids up so early.
Loved that he was more than willing to take a picture with all the kids.
Joe was nice as well, although we didn’t get much of a chance to talk to him. His segment was on right after Drew’s so he was a bit rushed for time.
The kids ran through that course so many times. But they all had a blast and were full of smiles. We even had a Ducks/Beavers rivalry going. It was totally not planned but the only two boys there were sporting jersery’s from the rival schools. That created a lot of fun for the other onlookers.
Afterward, R-West provided each family with a football and Ovie was kind enough to autograph them. Since the boy is such a sports nut I told him he could have ours. Ovie even personalized it for him.
My kids have been talking nonstop about being on TV. We have it recorded so they have watched themselves several times and apparently it never gets old. They also keep asking me when they are going to be on again. Such little super stars!
Thankfully, Drew posts his segments on his blog. So without further ado, I give you my kids’ television debut. 🙂
(Again my son is in the Ducks shirt and my little girl is wearing a purple shirt and leggings. Plus, she’s super fast! LOL)
