*Yawn*
That’s how I feel right now. Today started off super early. With Spring forward, I only got about 4.5 hours of sleep last night.
I wouldn’t recommend this if you are running a 5K in the morning.
That’s right. Today was the day I have been counting down to since January.
My First 5K!
Luckily, I had a great support system.

It was a great experience even though it rained the whole time. And even though there was a nice surprise of a mile long hill after the first mile.
Thanks to my hubs I put together a little video of the day. *Warning: there is some bouncing video. Hey we were running!
Before I started the race I was anticipating that I would run 13 minute miles. At that pace I would have finished the 3.1 miles in 00:40:30. Imagine my surprise when I saw my official time of 00:38:31! Which means I averaged about 12:35 miles! I have to admit that that made me quite proud of myself.
But I gotta say that it wouldn’t have been possible without this man.

That’s my hubs. He stayed with me the whole way. When I stopped to walk up part of the hill, he walked with me. And then he encouraged me to run again once we hit a certain spot and never stopped cheering me on. I know it had to be killing him since his pace is MUCH faster than mine, but he never complained and was the first person to tell me “Good Job” once I crossed the finish.
If you would have asked me at the beginning of December if I would have lost 20lbs and ran a 5K come March, I probably would have looked at you like you had a second head. But low and behold. That’s exactly what I’ve done. My journey isn’t over yet though. After a week of being “off the wagon” I’ll be jumping back on come Monday.
And I’m going to keep on running. I have to be ready for my next 5K on April 16th after all.

I am proud of you Tina! You are an inspiration for all of us!

My goal is to also finish my first one in under 40 minutes – hopefully I will surprise myself, too.
