As you can probably tell from all these posts that are movie based, we watch a lot of movies.
See, my kids don’t nap anymore. Yes, it was a very sad day in our household when that day came. Even though they don’t nap, I still crave and need that quiet time that I used to get when they did.
Movies are now our quiet time. We snuggle up on the couch together and just let our bodies and minds rest which is SO important, especially for me.
Anyway, that’s why we love Redbox. Sure we have a ton of movies that we own, but sometimes it’s fun to view a movie that even though we may have seen before, we don’t own it and haven’t watched it 999 times like the ones we do own.
During the last shopping trip that my daughter and I went on, we stopped off to peruse the family genre on Redbox as we headed out of the store. After checking out the options we settled on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I will admit that my daughter agreed to it because it had ‘meatball’ in the title. 🙂
This is one of those movies that we have seen before but don’t own. And seriously, you can’t go wrong with a movie that combines weather and food!
If you haven’t watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, it’s the story of Flint Lockwood, a small town dude who thinks he a much better inventor than his inventions portray. None of the things he invents are things that make sense or are useful. However, as a young child he has the support of his mother. Sadly, she passes away and Flint is left alone with his father who thinks he should give it up. When his small town faces an economic crisis because their primary source of income a sardine cannery, has shut down, Flint decides to try his latest invention. He puts his machine that can turn water into food to the test. But, like his other inventions, something goes wrong. the machine ends up in the atmosphere and later it starts raining food. Flint figures out that he can control the machine and can ‘create’ the weather each day. The shifty mayor sees this as a way to create a tourist attraction of the town begins to use Flint to make his vision come true. But when Flint sense something’s wrong with the machine, the mayor convinces him to ignore it. But as Flint predict chaos ensues.
I gotta tell ya that the idea of having food fall from the sky both excited and scares the bejeezus out of me. For starters I fear that I would end up like the mayor. Extremely large and riding a motor scooter in order to get around. But then, who has a kid didn’t dream of sledding down a hill made out of ice cream?!?
If you’re looking for a great family movie to watch then definitely check out Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Even if you have already watched it, it’s a great movie to revisit.
