It’s a mini-makeover courtesy of #KmartOutdoors

We are an outdoor kind of family.

When the weather permits my kids love eating outside and we love being able to cook outdoors. Saves me from doing dishes!

We have wanted to be able to host our friends for backyard get together’s but our backyard was sadly lacking. However, I can’t say that anymore! Thanks to Kmart, we were able to give our backyard a mini-makeover. Let me tell you, this was just the kick in the behind we needed!

I want some thing easy to take care of and I don’t want our patio area to look too cluttered. I also want to have something in our backyard that the kids can enjoy. Currently, we don’t have a lot for the kids to do back there and it would be great if there was something they could enjoy with their friends.

I went window shopping on and was able to find a few things that I could see being in our backyard.

nexgrill from kmartMy husband started with the grill. A great tool that Kmart offers on their site is the Grill Finder. After just 4 steps we had our grill choices narrowed down to just 2.

My husband chose the Nexgril Gas/Charcoal Grill Combo. He chose it because he knows that I am strange and like the smell of charcoal. 🙂

I saw a few other things I like but decided I really needed to head to the store and look first hand.

I really liked the Kmart had their outdoor living section very prominent inside the store. We were able to check out several grills that they had set up as well as accessories. I shopped for flower pots to put on our patio and my husband found lawn care products.

I was very happy to find their selection of pots on sale. They were all 25% off! I was able to get 2 very large ones for $20/each and 2 smaller ones for $12/each.

Once home I began the 2 day task of clearing ivy from our patio, in the rain I might add. Due to the weather my SD card with photos was ruined but I do have our after pics.

It make not look like a lot was done but trust me, there was! Our deck was cleaned with a special cleaner.

After we finished our mini-makeover we invited a couple of our friends and their families over for a Memorial Day BBQ.

I based our meal on the Party Blueprints Outdoor Party Menu and with some help from my hubs cooked almost our entire meal on the grill!

Not pictured was our new backyard swing set. Sadly it wasn’t in stock at our local Kmart and didn’t arrive in time for our party.

  1. That looks like a sweet set-up! I have always liked the SMELL of charcoal, but when I cook it’s about dinner, not about waiting for coals to get hot. 🙂

  2. Okay. I need that grill. I love the smell/taste of charcoal grilled food but it would be great to have the expediency of gas, too. Smart!

The kids look happy, even without the swingset!

  3. Love those lanterns in the night sky! Great makeover, the flowers add a nice touch and warmth on that corner spot.
