I enrolled my daughter in dance class because she was always complaining that her older brother got to play soccer and she didn’t get to do anything. She loved wearing her dance clothes and although I quickly realized that there were other things I would rather be doing that sitting watching her hop around the floor, looking back I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I’ve actually seen my daughter come out of her shell a bit. She’s always been somewhat shy around people and it takes her a while to warm up to someone new. Now, however, even at 4 years of age, she is much more confident. She will go up to kids her age in the park and introduce herself and ask if they want to play.
She of course still has her moments of shyness like any other kids I suppose. But she surprised me quite a bit when she had no problem performing in front of a sold out crowd during her dance recital.
There is nothing more precious than girls in frilly dresses and a boy in a chef’s hat.
(BTW, mine is in the back row with curly piggy tails. 🙂 )
