I promise this will be my last post about the new Kmart Playdate Place. 🙂
In a previous post I talked about how cool it is to be able to shop directly from the Playdate Place Toy Review page. Well, now I actually have first hand experience ordering online and I wanted to share it with you.
It really is pretty darn simple. You just scroll through the long list of toys on Playdate Place and at the bottom of each post you will see a button that says “Buy”.
When you click the button you are taken directly to the Kmart.com site and the toy you were viewing on Playdate Place.
From here on out it’s very similar to shopping online at any other store with that offer. But I have to tell you. There was something that really stuck out from the rest of the stores that I have shopping online. That’s customer service.
So, I ended up purchasing over 10 items from Kmart and I went ahead and chose the option to pick them up from the store. Now this isn’t Site to Store where you still have to wait for the item to ship to the store itself. Basically, it’s like having your own personal shopper. Once your order is received at your local Kmart store (and as long as you have ensure all the items are available at that store which you can see as soon as you select the option,) a customer service representative grabs a cart and does your shopping for you!
You will receive an email, or a text if you prefer, when your order is ready. To pick up your order you head to the Layaway Department and voila! You’re in and out quick and painlessly. If you have gone shopping with kids you can totally appreciate this. You pay for your order online so once you are given the bags with your items, it’s off you go.
Now to the customer service part of my story. As I mentioned in the last post, my kids helped me pick out the toys for our playdate. Since I had a boy and a girl I obviously had a bit of a mixture of the 2 kinds of toys.
Well, apparently many of the toys I chose had options for boys and girls. The customer service rep. saw that I had order the Super Soakers (I actually order 6 of them!) and figured that most of my purchases were for a boy, but she wanted to make sure, so she called me!
She went through everything that I ordered to ensure that I got the right color for the right child. I can’t tell you how appreciative I was. It was so great to have someone looking out for me so that I didn’t end up with the wrong item and have to either head back to the store to exchange or have a disappointed kid.
If you have some toys to purchase in the future I recommend going through Kmart.com. Personally, I’ll be heading to that website first from now on.
And if you need some ideas on what to get, don’t forget the “Toys” page of the Kmart Playdate Place site. You’ll find the most popular toys for various ages.
You can see more pictures from my shopping and the play date through my ThisMoment story.
