I just started the book the week before BlogHer.
I was invited to an advanced screening during the conference and I always try to read the book before I see the movie it inspired.
Unfortunately, due to a meeting I had with a brand I was late for the screening and didn’t go. I’m super bummed about it but trying to focus on the fact that I wanted to finish the book first anyway.
That aside. The Help opens in theaters TODAY!
If you are wondering what in the world I’m talking about, well, The Help is a look at what happens when a southern town’s unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship. The movie is set in the 1960′s and follows Skeeter, a southern society girl who dreams of becoming a writer. She get the idea of writing a book and decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families.
Here’s my favorite clip about the film.
I know you’re going to enjoy the film so here’s a little prize pack to go along with it!

GIVEAWAY ENDS AUG. 18TH 12:01AM EST
If you go see the movie I would love to hear what you thought about it. Fair warning, several people suggested taking a box of tissues with you!

I’m pretty excited to see The Help; loved every single page of the book! I’ve read many books that have been made into movies, and I’m still looking for ‘that one’ that does the book justice. I’m hoping The Help will do just that. But if I had to pick 1, I’d say The Davinci Code did a fair job.
Gone with The Wind.

The book was AMAZING. The move was AWESOME. Go see it early and you, too, can sit nestled between book clubs who loved the book as much as you did. We cheered. We booed. We boo-hooed. It was beautiful.

I think the Davinci Code was a good adaptation, of Course Harry Potter and Twilight weren’t too bad either!
My favorite movie based on a book is the LOTR trilogy. Peter Jackson did an amazing job of bringing that book to life.
Looks like a good movie
My favorite adaptation was Silence of the Lambs…Jodie Foster was brilliant and who doesn’t love Anthony Hopkins playing a psychotic serial killer?
