The Help at the box office today!

The HelpI just started the book the week before BlogHer.

I was invited to an advanced screening during the conference and I always try to read the book before I see the movie it inspired.

Unfortunately, due to a meeting I had with a brand I was late for the screening and didn’t go. I’m super bummed about it but trying to focus on the fact that I wanted to finish the book first anyway.

That aside. The Help opens in theaters TODAY!

If you are wondering what in the world I’m talking about, well, The Help is a look at what happens when a southern town’s unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship. The movie is set in the 1960’s and follows Skeeter, a southern society girl who dreams of becoming a writer. She get the idea of writing a book and decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families.

Here’s my favorite clip about the film.

If you get a chance to go see the movie I totally recommend doing so. No, I haven’t watched it but I am now halfway through the book and when I saw ladies who were able to go to the screening I heard nothing but praise which makes me excited to go and see it for myself. I’m hoping to have the book finished by this weekend so I can go. 🙂

I know you’re going to enjoy the film so here’s a little prize pack to go along with it!

  1. I’m pretty excited to see The Help; loved every single page of the book! I’ve read many books that have been made into movies, and I’m still looking for ‘that one’ that does the book justice. I’m hoping The Help will do just that. But if I had to pick 1, I’d say The Davinci Code did a fair job.
