It’s not secret that my husband is in the military.
He’s currently Active Duty Air National Guard here in Oregon.
His service is something that I am hugely proud of and it always warms my heart when I learn that a brand is giving back to the men and women in the military and their families who are sacrificing so much to serve our country.
Cheerios has partnered with the USO to offer the Cheerios sendCheer campaign. Boxes of specially marked Cheerios feature a “Cheer” postcard which you can cut out and then mail to a military family sending them thanks for their commitment and encouragement when they are separated from their loved ones.
Although I don’t consider myself a typically military spouse, I do know what it’s like to be separated from your loved one during deployment. The first time my husband was deployed was one month after our first son was born. Here I was with a newborn, my 12 year old step-daughter, and our dog to care for. The support I received from our local feed store came at a time when I didn’t think I was going to make it. It took just a simple delivery of dog food to my door and a few words of encouragement to propel me through the rest of the deployment.
So, back to the Cheerios sendCheer campaign and how it works.
After you cut out your “Cheer” postcard from the box simply write out your message on the back, place the correct postage and then drop the pre-addressed card in the mail. The postcards will be distributed by the USO once they receive them to military families on bases and in USO centers.
I strongly encourage you to look for these boxes of Cheerios at your local Walmart and fill out a card with your family. It doesn’t take grand gestures to support and encourage our military and their families. Just letting them know that you are thinking of them and that you appreciate and acknowledge their sacrifice is often enough.
