Last night we were able to head to the Rose Garden and check out the Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam show.
I’ve never been to a monster truck show and although I’ve seen commercials, I didn’t quite know what to expect.
After experiencing the event first hand I can say that the people who attend these events know how to have a good time!
Not only that, but it was so awesome to see a ton of dads there with their sons. For instance, sitting in front of us were 3 dads who all brought their young sons, ages 3-5, to enjoy the show. It was so great to see them dote on their boys. I mean here were 3 burly, manly men and they were there just for their boys. One of the dads even went and bought all three boys Grave Digger hats.
By far, what impressed me the most was the effort to get girls in to the action. Our show featured the Tasmanian Devil which is driven by Taryn Laskey. Taryn started out as a sprint car driver, but that isn’t all she does. She has a degree in psychology and has said that if she wasn’t driving in Monster Jam she would probably be in medical school. Even at that, she will be attending nursing school in addition to her driving duties. She definitely is a great role model for girls and I love that at the end of her freestyle she got out of her truck and gave a special pink bow to a young girl in the audience.
Anyway, I took so many photos from the show, way too many to share in this post, so I’ll just leave you with some of my favorites. If you would like to see the rest check them out on Flickr.
Before that though, definitely head to monsterjam.com/events and see when the show is coming to an arena near you!
