Mainly because last week was so freaking busy for us that I was finding it hard to find the time to sit down and do it.
The other reason, I was so focused last week on making smart choices that it seriously took the rest of my focus to do just that. I planned out my dinner schedule for several weeks and went grocery shopping on Monday.
Here’s the deal.
I have a super big sweet tooth. Like I’m pretty sure I don’t have separate teeth in my mouth, they are just one big tooth and it prefers sweet stuff over the food that I should be eating and is good for me. With that said, I know that I can’t deprive myself of that type of food, but I also know that if I indulge I really indulge. For whatever reason I am unable to moderate when it comes to sugar, I become like the Sweet Monster or something. So, with that said I had to find something that would curb my cravings for sweets in the evening that wasn’t going to hurt me calorie wise.
This shake is so darn good! I will say that I made one little change to the recipe. Instead of using vanilla pudding mix I use vanilla flavored protein powder since I have a hard time getting in my protein each day. It’s hard to believe that for 2 servings you use just 2.5 Oreo Cookies but that’s really all. These have become my nightly sweet snack about 1.5 hours before bedtime. It’s enough that I don’t end up hungry right before bed and it’s sweet enough that I’m not wanting something else sweet afterward. I make about 4 batches at a time and keep them in the freezer so they are ready when I want them.
I’ve also been trying to find some new recipes to make for dinner. I get bored eating the same things all the time so finding new things to eat for dinner is hugely important. I have several websites that I visit, one of which is the Kraft Foods site. They have a whole section for healthy living. One of the new recipes I found was for Smothered Chicken & Green Bean Skillet. Now it might not look super appetizing from my picture, but it was really good. Even my kids loved it. Salad has been my side with every meal and I use salsa for my dressing. It ads great flavor without a ton of calories.
I didn’t lose much weight this week, about 0.5 pound, the real accomplishment was changing the way I eat again and sticking to it. Now that school is out my challenge will be making time to get to the gym or figuring out other ways to exercise in.
Do any of you have tips for getting my exercise in with a 5 and 7 year old at home? Unfortunately, they are too big for a stroller. 🙂
