It’s hard to believe that it has been less than a week since I was in L.A. with some of the most amazing ladies ever.
Who would have thought that an event titled: “Fitcation: A healthy vacation for mom” would be so much fun?!? But fun it most definitely was.
For starters I have to say that this event had some Uh-MAZE-ing sponsors!
I, seriously, have never stayed in a hotel this gorgeous before. I kept waiting to see a celebrity at any moment. (We do believe there was at least one there but we couldn’t confirm it.)
Those beds were WICKED awesome. You just kind of sank into them. The Four Seasons staff was wonderful as well, the house keeping staff came to our room twice a day to tidy up. On our final night in the hotel my roomie and I came back to our room from dinner to find slippers next to our beds!
We were given a tour of the grounds on Friday as well at the California Health & Longevity Institute which is house within the hotel. If you watch Extreme Makeover – Weight Loss edition then you have seen some of the amenities.
Our tour of Dole Headquarters was filled with tons of information, more information than I can fit in this post so stay tuned for that one, probably next week.
Each day began with exercise!
A bootcamp that definitely kicked my booty and kept me from walking normal until just Wednesday. A hulahoop workout that was so much fun! I’ve been hooping while watching TV each day just because I can. 🙂 And lastly, a yoga class led by an amazing woman and member of Mamavation, Kia.
I have never taken a yoga class before and if I could find an instructor like Kia here locally I would be there in a heartbeat. Kia created such a relaxing and nurturing atmosphere that I didn’t want it to end.
We ate some amazing food throughout the weekend.
Friday morning was a breakfast from Dole which included some delicious fruit and gluten free pastries. If you need proof of how good it was, take a look at what was left on my plate.
Subway provided us lunch while we listened to the though provoking and inspiring speaker, Joshua Medcalf. So much of what Joshua shared touched me and really made me start to look at my behaviors not just towards others, but also myself.
That evening we got to head to Leah aka Bookieboo’s house! Be jealous people, hung out in her living room and back patio. Not only that but we got to nosh on some fabulous fare that Alysa from Inspiredrd.com (also a dietician) whipped up with the help of Mama Bookieboo. It was so colorful and full of WAY more veggies than I normally eat. I just wish that I could cook like this because once again I ate EVERYTHING! Even the tomatoes and unless they are in ketchup form I normally don’t allow them in my mouth. I also tried quinoa for the first time, I enjoyed it so much I bought some to try my hand at the same salad.
Food wise, the weekend was filled with many firsts for me. Our dinner Saturday, which was provided by Leading Lady, was held at Marrakesh Moroccan restaurant. I have never eaten Moroccan food, but I kept an open mind. Now that I’m home, I’ve told my husband that we need to find a Moroccan restaurant here because I need some more of that!
The best takeaway was all the wonderful ladies, all the laughs, snorts, and memories that were made during that amazing 4 days.
I can’t wait to go back next year and do it all again!
