Her current word of the day is ACTUALLY. All day long we hear “Actually, this..” and “Actually, that..” If she wasn’t so darn cute it would be annoying. (Actually, even though she is cute it still is.)
There are times, though, that she gets confused and uses words a bit incorrectly.
This is one of those times.
Fade In: I am in the kitchen chopping up carrots for salad. In walks the girl.
Girl: “Mom what are you doing?”
Me: “Chopping carrots for salad.”
Girl: “Don’t cut your fingers off Mom.”
Me: “I will try not to.”
A full minute elapses.
Girl: “Wow, Mom! That’s a bitch of carrots!”
Me: “I’m sorry what?!?”
Girl: “I said that’s a bitch of carrots.”
Me: “Honey, I don’t think that word means what you think it means.”
Girl: Exasperated. “I mean that’s a lot of carrots.”
Me: “Uhhh.. yeah. The word you are looking for is BUNCH. That’s a bunch of carrots. The word you used is a word that most people use when they don’t like someone of something.”
I can see the gears turning in her little head.
Girl: “Huh. Words are a bitch.”
I immediately excused myself so that I could laugh without her seeing me.
And yes my dear girl. Words are a bitch.
