Mayflower Park Hotel in Seattle – #Seattle4Kids

mayflower park hotel seattleI’ve only been to Seattle a few times.

I don’t know if that is why I love it or if it’s just because it’s such a cool place. Probably a combination of the two.

Regardless, I’ve never stayed right downtown, until January that is.

The first weekend of January myself, along with 2 other Portland bloggers and our daughters, travelled to The Emerald City for a weekend of fun and good ‘ol mother-daughter bonding.

We were very fortunate to have the Mayflower Park Hotel put us up for the 2 nights we were there.

mayflower park hotelThe hotel was built in 1927 and because of this you feel like you are stepping into a time forgotten when you walk through the doors.

Although it has an old world style, don’t let that fool you. The hotel has been completely renovated so that although you can enjoy the 1930’s decor you don’t have to sacrifice the amenities that we have all grown so accustomed to and rely on. Some of the amenities the hotel features include (but not limited to):

  • Complimentary wireless high speed internet throughout the hotel
  • Complimentary wine reception each Wednesday 4:30pm – 5:30pm
  • Luxury robes available in all guest rooms (which are amazing)
  • Digital cable flat screen televisions
  • Fitness studio with state of the art equipment
  • Executive business services

However, there is one amenity that they don’t have and which I think it very important when looking into kid friend accommodations. No pool.

I know this may not seem like a huge drawback and I’m not sure if your kids are different than mine, but for my kiddos the best part about staying at a hotel is playing in the pool.

Aside from that the hotel is wonderful. The staff was super helpful, friendly and efficient. Our TV remote didn’t work and one of the front desk personel promptly brought us a replacement, which was great because with 2 rambunctious girls in the room we were in need of just snuggling in bed and vegging out.

I will say that what the Mayflower Park Hotel lacks in pool it makes up for in location. There is a lightrail station right next door, so transportation from the airport is painless. It’s also a quick 10 minute walk to Pike Place and the hotel is conveniently connected to Westlake Center which grants 3 levels of shopping and dining choices. Not to mention it houses a Seattle Monorail station that makes travel to/from Seattle Center a snap. We took advantage of it and spent an evening at the Space Needle.

I know this may seem strange, but by far my favorite feature of the hotel was that our room had 2 bathrooms. Yes, you read that correctly. We didn’t have a suite or anything like that. Our room was a Deluxe with 2 queen beds and as you walked in there was a full bathroom to each side! With 2 moms with 2 kiddos in tow this was great. When we would get ready to leave in the morning there wasn’t a lot of shuffling to get ready and potty visits were a breeze. It’s amazing what we appreciate more as moms. 🙂

So, would we visit the Mayflower Park Hotel again? Yes, we would. Although, I don’t know if I would bring the kids. I think this hotel is perfect for a getaway with the hubs or a fun weekend with the girls.

Still, definitely check them outline. They have some fantastic packages available all year round!

Disclosure: We received free accommodations from the Mayflower Park Hotel. This review based on my experience.
