It’s really indisputable.
Our bodies need water. It’s the best thirst quencher. And really who doesn’t love to take a cool dip when it’s so gosh darn hot outside.
In honor of World Water Day today I have a super awesome giveaway.
I’m so excited about this giveaway for several reasons. But mainly it’s because I absolutely LOVE this product. It’s made consuming water in our house so much easier and less expensive. I’ve found that I drink more water if I drink through a straw, but even more than that when I have bottled water in the house, it doesn’t stick around long. I down those bottles like they are hard cider. There’s just something about drinking out of a plastic bottle that even my kids love.
Enter the Filtrete Water Station from 3M!
This money saving device will filter water straight from your tap and distributes it into four 16.9oz bottles that are ready for you to pop in the fridge and then take anywhere. The bottles are not only BPA-free, but they are also dishwasher safe. Plus, you can buy extra bottles which is what I’m going to have to do because I find myself having to refill them several times a day. Oh! That brings me to another neat feature. Although there are slots for 4 bottles on the water station you don’t have to put all 4 bottles on there at a time. You can fill just 1, or 2, or 3. The station automatically shuts off water to the slot that doesn’t have a bottle attached. The filter will, well, filter up to 100 gallons of water or last for about 3 months. You don’t ever have to second guess though because there is an indicator on the top of the filter that reminds you when it’s time to change it.
The Water Station retails for $42.99 (additional filters $12.99). This may seem steep but it will end up paying for itself after about 6 months by my calculations and then it will be saving you money from there on out.
That’s right! One of my readers will get their own Filtrete Water Station!

Thankfully I was sent an Eat Smart Pro Precision Food Scale. What’s great about it is that it’s small and compact so it doesn’t take up that much room and in addition to weighing food it will also weigh ingredients! This totally made me psyched because I had seen Alton use his scale to weigh dry ingredients for baking and it justified the scale!
I’m weighing everything! I started out just using it for my serving portions of chicken and such, but I’ve now moved on to weighing all my food. I’m kind of a geek and find it really interesting how much in ounces I’m eating at each meal. I’ve also noticed then when my protein is limited to an actual portion size I eat more of the veggies that I try to incorporate.
Well, no more! Thanks to
The other great thing about these boxes is the re-usability. No more baggies that just get thrown away with each packing. Now, granted there are probably other containers out there but when I have the opportunity to buy from a mom. I’m going to take it. And yes. EasyLunchBoxes.com was developed by mom Kelly Lester. Stemmed from her desire to send her 3 kids to school with a nutritious meal and using little to no wasteful packaging as possible. The other great thing, these aren’t just for kids! Use them for picnics in the park or to pack your own lunch to work. I’ve packed both my breakfast and lunch in one of these containers and didn’t have to worry about them mixing. Which is a big thing in my book. No food touching!
My kids are also able to be involved in their snack packing. I let them choose the 2 items that go in the smaller cups and I decide what goes in the main compartment. I mix it up with sandwiches, pinwheel sandwiches, turkey roll-ups, etc. Variety is the key to keeping your kids eating their lunch/snack. Ok, at least when it comes to my kids.
