Make a little Splash today! #giveaway

It’s really indisputable.

Our bodies need water. It’s the best thirst quencher. And really who doesn’t love to take a cool dip when it’s so gosh darn hot outside.

In honor of World Water Day today I have a super awesome giveaway.

I’m so excited about this giveaway for several reasons. But mainly it’s because I absolutely LOVE this product. It’s made consuming water in our house so much easier and less expensive. I’ve found that I drink more water if I drink through a straw, but even more than that when I have bottled water in the house, it doesn’t stick around long. I down those bottles like they are hard cider. There’s just something about drinking out of a plastic bottle that even my kids love.

Enter the Filtrete Water Station from 3M!
filtrete water stationThis money saving device will filter water straight from your tap and distributes it into four 16.9oz bottles that are ready for you to pop in the fridge and then take anywhere. The bottles are not only BPA-free, but they are also dishwasher safe. Plus, you can buy extra bottles which is what I’m going to have to do because I find myself having to refill them several times a day. Oh! That brings me to another neat feature. Although there are slots for 4 bottles on the water station you don’t have to put all 4 bottles on there at a time. You can fill just 1, or 2, or 3. The station automatically shuts off water to the slot that doesn’t have a bottle attached. The filter will, well, filter up to 100 gallons of water or last for about 3 months. You don’t ever have to second guess though because there is an indicator on the top of the filter that reminds you when it’s time to change it.

The Water Station retails for $42.99 (additional filters $12.99). This may seem steep but it will end up paying for itself after about 6 months by my calculations and then it will be saving you money from there on out.

That’s right! One of my readers will get their own Filtrete Water Station! 🙂

Weighing In {ENDED}

So, I am a Food Channel junkie.

I absolutely love to watch shows on there, mainly because I dream of being able to cook like they do but really have no energy to learn. 😉 By far though, one of my favorite shows is Good Eats with Alton Brown. I absolutely love that he doesn’t believe in one use kitchen gadgets. If it can’t be used for at 2 different things he doesn’t believe it should be in the kitchen because it’s just a waste of space!

Where am I going with this? Well, for a while now I have wanted a kitchen scale. See, I’m trying to lose weight (have joined a gym and everything,) but I realized that really my food intake needed to be reevaluated. When I started working out I cut down on the side dishes I ate with dinner, however, because I still always felt hungry I would double up on the protein portion of the meal. This typically meant eating a whole chicken breast or steak. And when I mean a whole breast/steak I mean just that. The entire thing.

Now, while protein isn’t bad, I wasn’t going to lose weight eating so much of it. I really wanted a kitchen scale but all the ones that seemed affordable only weighed food so I refused to get one. I have such a small kitchen that anything else on the counter just clutters it up.

Eat Smart LogoThankfully I was sent an Eat Smart Pro Precision Food Scale. What’s great about it is that it’s small and compact so it doesn’t take up that much room and in addition to weighing food it will also weigh ingredients! This totally made me psyched because I had seen Alton use his scale to weigh dry ingredients for baking and it justified the scale!

Eat Smart Pro PrecisionI’m weighing everything! I started out just using it for my serving portions of chicken and such, but I’ve now moved on to weighing all my food. I’m kind of a geek and find it really interesting how much in ounces I’m eating at each meal. I’ve also noticed then when my protein is limited to an actual portion size I eat more of the veggies that I try to incorporate.

So the scale retails for around $25. It has a maximum weight of 11lbs (yet I haven’t found anything that I have needed to weigh even close to that.) It displays in ounces/lbs/grams/kgs and also will shut off automatically after 3 minutes saving battery life. But probably the best feature in my eyes is the “Tare” button. This allows you to put the use a plate or container on top of the scale then reset the weight to “0” before putting whatever it is you need weighed. Inside the box you will also find a EatSmart Calorie Factors guide which makes portion control and calorie counting easy.

Since this is the only kitchen scale I have tried it’s hard for me to compare to anything else but when you consider how expensive scales are these was is a good deal in my eyes, plus like I mentioned is small and compact so it won’t take up much room. If you’re in the market for a kitchen definitely check out the Eat Smart Precision Pro.

And that’s not all folks!

The good people at Eat Smart have offered to give away a scale to one of you!

Easy Peasy! {ENDED}

According to the stats that I have, I’ve reviewed 45 products.

I’ve reviewed movies, CD’s, live shows, toys, etc. But of those 45 products there have only been a handful that have made my life easier.
Now I have another to add to that short list.

This year both of my kids are required to take a snack bag to school with them. I’ve got to be honest and say that I have been waiting for the time when I could make my kids lunch in the mornings. There is just something so “Mom” about it. However, I didn’t factor in the fact that mornings are a real rush, plus my kids like to hit each other with their snack bags which in turn smash, smoosh, and sometimes demolish the snacks I’ve packed for them. Talk about frustrating!

easylunchbox buttonWell, no more! Thanks to, I’m no longer in such a rush in the mornings. While the kids are eating breakfast I can quickly pack their snacks, which I will admit resemble a full lunch, I’d rather give my kids a few choices and have them eat enough than not eat and complain about how hungry they are once I pick them up. 🙂

easy lunchboxesThe other great thing about these boxes is the re-usability. No more baggies that just get thrown away with each packing. Now, granted there are probably other containers out there but when I have the opportunity to buy from a mom. I’m going to take it. And yes. was developed by mom Kelly Lester. Stemmed from her desire to send her 3 kids to school with a nutritious meal and using little to no wasteful packaging as possible. The other great thing, these aren’t just for kids! Use them for picnics in the park or to pack your own lunch to work. I’ve packed both my breakfast and lunch in one of these containers and didn’t have to worry about them mixing. Which is a big thing in my book. No food touching! 🙂

lunch boxMy kids are also able to be involved in their snack packing. I let them choose the 2 items that go in the smaller cups and I decide what goes in the main compartment.  I mix it up with sandwiches, pinwheel sandwiches, turkey roll-ups, etc. Variety is the key to keeping your kids eating their lunch/snack. Ok, at least when it comes to my kids.

And I gotta tell ya, there is nothing more satisfying than when my kids come home with an empty EasyLunchbox!

Now, you can have your own EasyLunchBox!

Special thanks to Kelly Lester and Mom Spark Media I get to giveaway a complete system to a reader with your choice of cooler bag color!

This giveaway is offered to US & Canadian residents only. Please do not enter this giveaway if you have won or received free product from EasyLunchboxes within the past 3 months.
