Dance All Day!

In our house dancing is almost a requirement.

I love to dance, when my son was just starting to walk we realized that he shared that love and if there was music playing you can bet his diapered bottom that he would be moving.

And then my daughter was born. She took the dancing to a whole ‘nother level!

That being said we are always looking for some good, kid friendly tunes to have playing when the dancing mood strikes us.

Enter Bari Koral with her debut child’s album “Rock & Roll Garden”
Her folk/pop singing style makes her music enjoyable for kids and parents alike! Her music makes your toe tap, your hips shake and your head bob. With catchy lyrics don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing them in the grocery store, in the cereal aisle, when the kids aren’t at home!

My kids are much better reviewers!

Rock & Roll Garden features 11 songs:

Unofficial Holiday Gift Guide : Music Lovers

Do you have a music lover in the family?
GiftGuide2009

Music is a big part of my everyday life. My kids and I have music hour at least twice a day. Why twice you ask? Well, the first hour they can listen to their music and the second hour they are exposed to the music that I love. Several weeks ago One2One Network sent me a free download for Five for Fighting‘s latest album “Slice”.

I’ve been a fan of John Ondrasik for several years. As a matter of fact when my husband and I were married I gave him tickets to see a local golf tournament. Much to my surprise, and joy, John was performing a free concert at the close of the days play. It was just him playing the keyboards and guitar. It was so unbelievable to see him perform my favorite songs from AmericaTown and The Battle for Everything. His mom was even there!

Anywho, Slice is just another great correlation of songs from this fantastic singer/song writer. The song “Chances” will be featured on the new film “The Blind Side” starring Sandra Bullock.

Song List:

1. Slice
2. Note To The Unknown Soldier
3. Tuesday
4. Chances
5. This Dance
6. Above The Timberline
7. Transfer
8. Hope
9. Story Of Your Life
10. Love Can’t Change The Weather
11. Augie Nieto

Being a military wife, “Note to the Unknown Soldier” touches me more than I could ever express. It brings tears to my eyes and warms my heart at the same time. I know that’s a contradiction but one of the things that I love about John Ondrasik is his support for the men and women in the armed forces. This song brings to mind the sacrifice of those that put their lives on the line for our country every day. In the song he tells the story of an unknown soldier who he calls Sam.
He wonders who Sam was, what life he left behind and thanks him for all he did.

The last verse probably touches me the most:

You make me happy and sad
If you were here, I’d buy the beers
I’d shake your hand and say good man
And though the sun would shine about the same
It’s a better world because you came
Sincerely yours, my kids will know your name

I plan on including this CD into our care package to our adopted solider. I hope he enjoys it as much as I have.

*Disclosure: I received this CD free from One2One network. It by no means altered my opinion of the CD*

I’m Ridin’ with Rebecca!

There’s a new kids album coming out in November and if your kids can’t sit still when they hear music with a good beat then I encourage you to put this in their stocking this year.

FrezzaBigTruck1

I thought long and hard about how to do this review.

I could tell you what I thought about the CD.

Like how I really liked the music, and that the only thing I didn’t like was that there weren’t enough songs on it for me! I could tell you that I’ve listened to it like 40 times in the last week and it hasn’t annoyed me whatsoever. Or, how my favorite human on Sesame Street, Gordon (Roscoe Orman), makes a special appearance on one of the songs.

Or I could tell you how Rebecca and her 7-piece band have won 14 national awards, and have 10 nationally televised music videos to their credit. How you have probably seen them on Noggin or PBS Kids.

I could tell you that Rebecca’s focus has been on creating music for that group of kids that are sort of “in-between.” They are too old to listen to the toddler tunes that we start to play early in their lives but not quite old enough to start listening to mainstream pop music.

I could tell you that Rockin’, Rollin’, and Ridin’ features 8 songs, which include 6 brand new songs and 2 specially remixed tracks as well as a bonus video! The songs include:

  • Big Truck (remix)
  • Rock Like This
  • Hey-O (featuring Roscoe Orman)
  • Motorcycle Boy
  • Robot Dancer
  • Rocketship
  • Smiling Moon
  • Superman (remix)

Yes I COULD tell you all that; but instead, I wanted you to see how my 2 (almost 3) year old daughter reacts when we put the music on.

That’s right folks. That right there should be enough for you to want to go out and get this CD! The CD will be available to the masses Nov. 10th, like I said, just in time for those Christmas stockings!

You can check out more music by Rebecca Frezza and Big Truck at their site Big Truck Music.

*Disclaimer: Waldmania provided the music CD, I provided the genes, my daughter provided the moves!*
