Ride of my life.. to date.

I still have so much that I am digesting from the EVO ’10 conference back in June. I know it’s crazy. It’s been over a month and I still have notes I’m going through and setting plans in place to implement some things that I hope will better not just the blog but myself as well.

A major thing I did occurred at the closing party at the Park City Mountain Resort. I conquered my fears and went on the most thrilling ride of my life.

So let me set the stage for you..

Park City Mt Resort Zipline

See that arrow near the top of the picture? It’s pointing to a platform, I know you can barely see it. Well that’s because it’s ALL the way up the mountain! Mind you, I was zoomed in all the way or else you probably wouldn’t even be able to see it. So that little platform is where my journey began.

Did you hear that buzzing sound? Yep, that is the sound the cable makes when you are flying down a mountain at about 50MPH..

But more astounding than that flying ride was the opportunity to meet some more wonderful ladies! Two of them I have been watching with awe since I began blogging. Jenny, @jennyonthespot and Laurie, @tipjunkie were so much fun! Laurie and I bonded over our fear of going down that string in the sky. And I was SO appreciative of Crystal, @travlersbarista who was kind enough to offer to head down with me instead of making me go with just some random person.

I cannot put into words how much this conference really “evolved” me. I’m so much more conscious of my writing and being authentic for not just myself but my readers. I’ve realized that ultimately I’m writing for me. If I start writing for someone else then the passion I have dwindles.

You can see more of my photos over on flickr.

Mama ain’t having it!

Now I have to tell ya. My husband is often asked to go to conferences for the military. And when he goes to said conferences and I get stuck at home with the kids. My hubs has been to Washington DC, Mississippi, errr..and a couple more places that I can’t think of off the top of my head. Now granted he consistently tells me that he is there for work and not play but still!

So, THIS time we came to a mutual understanding that there was no way the kids and I were going to get left at home when he got to go to Florida. In December. Yes, there was no way we were going to get stuck in Oregon in the cold, rainy maybe snowy December, while he went off and wore shorts the whole time. NOPE, we decided against that.

All I have to say is….

mickeymseDISNEY WORLD HERE WE COME!!!

That’s right. My hubby is having a conference at Walt Disney World!! YEE HAW!

We’ll be staying at the Coronado Springs Resort, which is where the conference is being held. This will be our first family vacation and we’ve decided it will be our family Christmas present. We also aren’t telling the little kids until we get there.

I bet you’re wondering if I’m just writing this post to rub it in..well a little. :) But this is also the first in a series I will be writing about our plans for Disney and preparing my kids (ages 2 and 4) for their very first flight.

Stay tuned for the next Mad Hatter does Disney segment: Mickey and the Military
